Hi, I’m Jess!
It’s nice to meet you! As a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), I’ve loved collaboratively crafting musical moments that are unique for each individual. I have an extensive musical and clinical background that fosters my empathy, energy, and skillsets.
I primarily work as a Pediatric Music Therapist at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN, where I support patients and their families during hospitalizations through evidence-based music interventions. In addition, I facilitate clinical music sessions for research at the Music Cognition Lab at Vanderbilt University.
Born and raised in Nashville, I attended Belmont University for my undergraduate studies in Music Therapy and completed my 1200 hour internship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, where I studied classical/commercial voice, guitar, piano, and saxophone. Other coursework included digital musicianship, composition and improvisation, and participation in various ensembles including Jazz Band I and World Percussion Ensemble.
Before Vanderbilt, I worked as a Board-Certified Music Therapist with various clientele including outpatient pediatric clinics, music enrichment classes, adult addiction recovery and mental health, and assisted living facilities. Since beginning at Vanderbilt in September of 2022, I have obtained my Neurologic Music Therapy certification and NICU-MT certification. I am currently pursuing my Master’s of Music Therapy through Colorado State University’s online campus.
Outside of music, I enjoy traveling with my family and friends, thrift-shopping, playing video games, and drinking coffee.
